I think it's better to not involve commitment in love, at least in the way of marriage. I feel like love and commitment are better seperate. If you love someone, you do not want to be conjoined at the hip. You want to see them and admire that they are seperate from you. The seperateness creates a special feeling because you are so seperate but yet so alike. That feeling, I call it love or maybe understanding, may change over time. But if it's truly an understanding, will it change? Or will you change together? If you have an understanding, or true love, for another person, doesn't it make sense that you grow together? Therefore, you are sort of commited to them but very very loosely. Commitment just makes things dry. Personally, I don't like feeling like my future is planned out for me. A lot of people go into marriage feeling thankful they will have someone to take care of them when they are older. I understand that, I guess. But I'd rather grow old alone and take care of myself than settle for a defined future. Fuck. That. I hate how marriage has so many financial benefits too... I'll start another post for that.

Commitment can exist without love.

Bringing them together is a societal norm in this culture.
