Marriage and Divorce

What do you think about the laws surrounding? Are they just?

  1. I. Hate. Fucking marriage laws.

Marriage is an institution in terms of law. So, why do people get married? Loooove. Yeah ok.
Sharing. Job benefits, Insurance, Money, Property, Consumer benefits... Whatever they have, you will have too. Being binded together counts you as one person... you have no individuality.

When one is married, they are no longer considered alone, always with the "other half." Spending the rest of your life with one person... being binded to them... I don't know. You have to really fucking like that person. So much so that you are willing to give up yourself to become something else with them... and be happy about it. That's the tricky part.

I wish it was easier to get a divorce. I mean, sooo many people marry when they shouldn't. People say divorce is such a bad thing. It can be complicated, but I think it may be better for the individuals overall. It's not necessarily good for the whole, but I don't think trying to keep a bad marriage functioning just for that sake of it is good either.

It would be a whole lot easier if people didn't have to prove their love through stupid weddings and contracts. If we could simply exist together and be good... but no, everything has to be organized and proved. It makes sense so I guess it's ok but it just makes everything so complicated. Organization is complicated. Complicated can be ok if you want it.

But a lot of people don't like complications and they get married anyways. I think they have the idea that marriage will make everything easier because then the future is planned out and they don't have to make anymore life altering decisions. It's all downhill from there. Fuck that, though. It's not!

With my life, at least, I want surprises. I don't like things orderly and defined. It's so boring that way. Mistakes make everything more interesting... I don't know if I'll get married. As I said, I like surprises. These are just thoughts.
