The Ultimate Goal

What do you think the human race is striving to attain?

  1. I would like to think that as a whole the human race is striving for the best collective quality of life possible. Individuals strive for the best life for themselves, (or what they so judge as so) and i find no reason to believe that if society as a whole has a goal it would be anything other than an optimal collective quality of life. I have serious doubts that society or the human race have any particular goals at all though.

  2. I've never really thought about this a great deal (I think more about what I'm striving to attain, simply because I'm selfish), so this is kind of just off the top of my head.
Recently, I've developed an interest in posthumanism. If you guys can find any time, you should read some. Basically, the idea is that humans can, should, and will use technological advances to help themselves stay alive longer, get a kidney transplant, and perform cloning experiment, among many other advances humans have made.
