Kinsey theorised that people can be rated in terms of their sexuality on a scale from one to seven with only a very small minority faling tin the completley heterosexual (1) group, and an equal minority falling in the (7) group. Do Homosexual couples have the same implicit rights as straight couples? Is Seperate but Equal O.K. here?

Everybody is human. Women are human. Black people are human. Why deny gays the rights that women and black people have recently acquired?
ReplyDeleteInterracial marriage was only recently accepted in society. The racists calmed down. Soon, the bigots will calm down and gay marriage will prevail. Fucking prop hate/8 is causing trouble though, funded by the Mormon bigots.
Oh, sexuality.
ReplyDeleteIt is a confusing subject. If only it were what it really is about--sex.
In American culture, sexuality is manipulated in one particular way that I think is very wrong. The media uses it make us buy stuff ("sex sells").
By overusing it in such a manner, the media is selling sex out... We are making it seem less meaningful than it actually is.
Sure, it is a very primal act, but humans, intelligent and moral humans, have sex for other reasons than fulfilling their primal needs. Mostly, amongst humans, sex correlates with love and dedication (unless misguided). By making us immune to sexy images in the media by showing them so often, aren't we sort of making fun of sexuality? Or is it the American way of celebrating it?
I feel like we are doing sexuality more of a disservice than an honor. It really depends how you think of it, I suppose. If sexuality isn't that important to you, or maybe you don't understand it, it's easier to just make one big joke out of it. But if you do think it's important, you find the adds and such on tv a little silly.
Don't get me wrong, it's fine to poke fun at sex. It's just like laughing at a fart I suppose. It can be awkward, but I think it's a little less funny than farting if you associate it with something else besides a physiological or biological function.
As for homosexuals, let them be. All we need to do is to normalize homosexuality and everything will be fine. It will take a lot of time, though.
We should accept everybody, it isn't like being homosexual is detrimental to society or anything, regardless of what conservative republicans might think. Its Okay to Be Gay!!!!
ReplyDeleteFor sexuality, I think most of our troubles come from our idea that sex is something that should be shared with only one person, who you supposedly love, and have no sex anywhere else. While I'm not against this idea, it's against our programming. Animals in general have an instinct to have sex as much as possible to reproduce.
ReplyDeleteIn response to the first post, people arent going to calm down about same sex marriages like they calmed down about interracial marriages because they are not the same thing.
Marriage was never said to be only between people of the same race, but it WAS only meant to be between a man and a woman.
Now, I really don't mind if homosexuals get married, though I believe marriage should be a purely religious act, and not a legal/political one.
For homosexuality in general, it does not bother me. Its not as if we don't have enough people in the country.
